Westminster Hosts Special Olympics Basketball Challenge Day

On Friday, March 18, the sophomore class hosted students from several special school district schools and Promise Christian Academy for a Special Olympics Basketball Challenge Day. More than 200 visiting athletes traveled to campus to compete in basketball games, practice their skills, and play carnival games with their Westminster buddies.

Volunteers from the sophomore, junior, and senior classes helped facilitate basketball games, drills, and carnival activities like face painting, bead necklace making, bowling, and basket toss. Students worked with the athletes and their paraprofessionals as they competed and players from the Westminster basketball teams officiated the games.

We are so thankful we were able to host the event and look forward to working with Special Olympics and local athletes again in the future.
