Six Westminster Students Named National Merit Semifinalists

Six Westminster Christian Academy students have been named National Merit Finalists. Francie Akins, Richard Johnson, Amie Lee, Matthew Moore, Hayden Shively, and Daniel Wang were among 15,000 students to advance to finalist standing in 2018.

1.7 million students entered the National Merit Scholarship Program this year by taking the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT). Less than 1 percent of student applicants were named semifinalists in the fall.

Students are evaluated based on their academic record, school curricula and grading system, two sets of test scores, information about the student’s activities and leadership, and a written essay.
