AP Physics Class Awarded 2nd Place in Physics Bowl

Westminster’s AP Physics class placed second in their region at the 2018 American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) Physics Bowl. Originally tied for first, the team was awarded second place after losing the tiebreaker.

The class competed against physics students from Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. Andy Chen ’18, Michael Thoenen ’18, Matthew Moore ’18, and Hayden Shively ’18 were the team’s high scorers.

This year, more than 7200 students from 638 schools across the globe competed in the AAPT Physics Bowl. Exam questions for the 40-question, timed, multiple choice test were based on topics and concepts covered in a typical high school physics course.
