In the weight room at Westminster Christian Academy, senior Dani Mabry stands in the center of her girls lacrosse teammates, participating in almost every exercise, belting out a “Woo!” or “Let’s Get it!” when the wall sits are becoming unbearable.

Her right wrist is adorned with a colorful, flower-patterned scrunchie that she wore in her hair during the school day. On her left arm sits a cumbersome brace designed to prevent the wrist she had surgically repaired in January from moving around.

That brace has an impossible job…
