Shane Benes goes 3-for-4

It has been an incredible run for the Westminster baseball program.

When coach Rich Van Gilst’s squad beat Lutheran South last Monday, it was the 20th win of the season for the Wildcats and marked the eighth consecutive season they have won 20 or more games.

“I don’t think that numbers mean that much really to me or the guys,” Van Gilst said. “We just try to play every day and play our best, and winning is fun. We try to do it as often as we can.”

Since the beginning of the 2006 season, the Wildcats have won 185 games and lost 46 — a winning percentage of .801. Westminster is 78-10 (.890 winning percentage) since the start of the 2011 season.
