Nathan Talley has been a fixture with Westminster Christian Academy tennis for a couple of decades.
Talley was an outstanding player and state qualifier for the Wildcats and has been coaching for 11 years with the boys and girls. But Saturday was going to be his last day involved with the Westminster tennis program, as he is moving to California this summer.
He will leave with a special memory as he watched his doubles team of Bailey Merkel and Derek Bell capture the Class 1 doubles championship with a straight-set victory in the finals against Michael Peters and Matthew Wong of John Burroughs.
“We were happy to do this for our coach,” Bell said. “We got it for him.”
