The Westminster Wildcats baseball team added another chapter to its storied history by winning its third straight Missouri state championship on Sunday afternoon (June 2).

Westminster, which won title the past two seasons, benefitted from a two-run homer off the bat of Shane Benes and got hard-nosed pitching outings from starter Davis Vanderslice and reliever Ben Lovell, as the Wildcats edged Oak Grove 2-1 in the Class 4 title game at T.R. Hughes Ballpark.
“It’s just an incredible feeling, ” said Benes, a junior shortstop. “The doesn’t happen every day.”
