Westminster Students Named 2019 National Merit Semifinalists

Three Westminster Christian Academy seniors were recently announced as Semifinalists in the 64th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

Seniors Alec Bequette, Aaron Kampmeier, and William Vestal were among the academically talented high school students to receive this honor. All three students are now eligible to advance to Finalist standing in the competition. They have the opportunity to qualify for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million to be offered in the spring.

Students are evaluated based on their academic record, school curricula and grading system, two sets of test scores, information about the student’s activities and leadership, and a written essay. Meeting these high academic standards may also qualify them for a Merit Scholarship award to be applied toward college.
