Middle School Finals

Wednesday, May 23 – Thursday, May 24
The first final each day will begin at 8 a.m., and students will be dismissed at 12 p.m.

Middle school finals are a safe training ground for our students, providing an age-appropriate challenge while also assisting them in their transition into Upper School.

Middle school finals will:

  • Train students in test taking and review skills necessary for Upper School and beyond
  • Connect curriculum and themes within a course from one semester to the next
  • Assess student understanding of essential questions and inform further teacher instruction
  • Build student academic confidence and strengthen ownership in learning

7th Grade

1st Semester

  • End-of-unit test
  • Worth a major test grade (or a bit more)

2nd Semester

  • Main ideas/more comprehensive exam (with notecard)
  • Worth 10% of semester grade

8th Grade

To support students as they prepare for finals, teachers will use class time and Advisory each week.

Advisory Dates:
May 2 and 3 – Finals big picture (go over what is different this semester)

May 9 and 10 – Finals study plan. Students will make a study plan to share with their advisor.

May 16 and 17 – Finals schedule review and last minute reminders

In addition, teachers will share and suggest study strategies with students during class and through homework and provide a study guide.

New this semester: Tuesday, May 22 will be an optional study and review day for MS students (similar to the Academic Recovery Day in February); all middle school teachers will be available to work with students from 8 a.m.–12 p.m.  Note: For ride coordination, this is during the first US  final (10:30 a.m.–12 p.m.)
