We are a few short days away from Apple’s iOS 11 release (the exact date has not yet been announced). This release is a big upgrade for the iPad and will bring improved iOS multitasking and organizational features. In addition, the iOS interface will look different and utilize new multitasking gestures to navigate the iPad.

  • 9.7 inch iPad Pro
  • 10.5 inch iPad Pro
  • iPad (fifth generation)

New Features
Some iOS 11 features that you will immediately notice include:

  • The iPad dock now looks like a Mac computer dock and is always available in any app.
  • The multitasking menu is laid out in a grid.
  • The ability to drag and drop items (text, photos, hyperlinks) across a split screen is available.
  • Instant Markup utilizes the Apple Pencil to allow you to annotate PDFs, photos, and documents.
  • Improved keyboard shortcuts are offered.
  • The Files app allows for browsing, searching, and organizing your files in one location.

Before Upgrading
Before downloading and updating to iOS 11, we recommend backing up the data on your device.

To do this go to Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Back Up Now

Because devices are unable to be used during the installation process, we ask that families download and install the update outside of school hours. If your student has issues with the update process or needs help navigating the new iOS 11 interface, please contact Mr. Dale Beachy.
