Brennan Hehner

O’FALLON, Mo. • Brennan Hehner wasn’t sure he would get the ball for the Westminster baseball team when its weather-suspended Class 4 semifinal game resumed until getting the news on Saturday morning.

Hehner, a junior right-hander, made the most of his opportunity. He tossed five scoreless innings in relief of Friday’s starter, Ben Lovell, and helped the two-time Class 3 champion Wildcats beat Logan-Rogersville 4-1 at T.R. Hughes Ballpark to earn a berth in the Class 4 title game on Sunday.

“I was pretty surprised,” Hehner said. “I thought (Davis) Vanderslice was going to get the start, but I got the start and tried to do my best to help my team win.”
