Westminster will host a speaking event featuring renowned author, pastor, and Wheaton College President Dr. Philip Ryken. His talk will focus on the relationship between Christianity and American culture and specifically address the engagement of culture from the perspective of a Christian faith.
Dr. Ryken is the eighth president of Wheaton College and has served in that capacity since 2010. He attended Wheaton as an undergraduate, earned a Master of Divinity degree from Westminster Theological Seminary, and received a doctorate in historical theology from the University of Oxford. In addition to his service on the pastoral staff at Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, Dr. Ryken is also the author of more than 30 books and expository commentaries.
Family ties in St. Louis brought Dr. Ryken to the city often while growing up. Visits with his grandparents, who lived in Crestwood, and trips to watch the Cardinals play at the old Busch Stadium made St. Louis a frequent destination for Ryken and his family during his childhood. Dr. Ryken currently lives in Wheaton with his wife Lisa and their five children: Josh, Kirsten, Jack, Kathryn, and Karoline.
