Position Summary: Counselors-in-training assist camp instructors and counselors in any or all areas of camper care and instruction. The counselor-in-training position also provides leadership growth opportunities through planning, goal setting, and generating enthusiasm for camp activities. Counselors-in-training will also receive a certificate of training and may be compensated with service hours and/ or references, if requested.

Supervises: Campers (along with others’ supervision)
Position Qualification Requirements
Completed at least 7th grade to help with camps for grades K-5; completed 9th grade to help with camps for grades 6-9
Previous experience with working with children—other camps, VBS, babysitting, etc.—is encouraged, but not mandatory.
Skills and Abilities which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position:
Orientation and training session Thursday, April 4, 4–6:30 p.m (optional, but encouraged). Additional training will occur Wednesday, May 29 (mandatory; time TBD but in the morning for about three hours).

Environmental and atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job. Every camp has an outdoor component during camper check-in and check-out. Otherwise, the work environment is camp-specific: indoor, outdoor, classrooms, gymnasium, off campus, etc.
