2015-16 Season

5/9  The varsity baseball defeated Principia 18 – 3 and MICDS 3 – 2 this past weekend to win the Metro League Championship for the 5th year in a row. The Cats are 54 – 1 in the Metro League over this 5 year span. The Cats play at home this Wednesday (Senior Day) and Thursday before hosting districts a week from today. Overall this season the Cats are 19 – 8.

5/5  The JV baseball team extended their winning streak to four games with an 18-0 defeat of Parkway North.  Clayton Guzdial pitched a 1-hit shutout for the Wildcats.

4/22  The varsity baseball team defeated Lutheran South yesterday 8 – 7.  Logan McCall was not only the winning pitcher but drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 6th.  DJ Stewart, who had three hits, got the Lancers out in the top of the 7th to earn the save. The Cats are now 16 – 6 overall and 7 – 0 in the metro league.

4/18 The JV boys winning streak reached six games with a 5-4 win over St. Dominic on Saturday morning. Way to go gentlemen!

4/14   Score a W for Freshman with 11-0 win over Windsor. Joey Keane threw a 5 inning shutout and as a team we stole 15 bases.

4/8  Freshman baseball boys played Webster Groves, won 15-0, with much credit going to  Zach Braiser who threw 4 no hit innings!

5/12  The boys’ Varsity baseball team defeated John Burroughs yesterday 13-1 in five innings for their 15th win in a row.  Luke and Jake Matheny hit homeruns in the first inning and Michael Failoni pitched a one-hitter for his eighth win of the season.  Today the team travels to MICDS for the last game of the regular season.  A win would give the Cats another Metro League Championship.  The team record is now 25-5 for the season.

4/15    Logan McCall pitched a no-hitter on 4/14 as the boys’ Varsity baseball team defeated Parkway Central 2 – 0.  Logan walked two batters but both were erased on a double play so he faced the minimum number of batters – 21.

4/23  The boys’ Varsity baseball team defeated St. Charles West 13-0 on Monday, Lutheran North  10-0 on Tuesday, and Lutheran South 2-1 yesterday.  On Saturday the Cats play a couple of the top teams in the area, Fort Zumwalt West at 10:00 a.m. and Fort Zumwalt South at 3:00 p.m.  The games are at home so come out and enjoy.  The Cats’ season record is now at 18-3.

4/14     Over the weekend the boys’ Varsity baseball team defeated Principia 10-0, O’Fallon Christian  13-8, and Cape Notre Dame 8-4.  Tyler Catlett’s two-out two-strike two-run single plated the winning runs against Cape Notre Dame.  For the weekend Collin Einertson was perfect at the dish going five for five with six walks, Jordan Smith went seven for 11 and Brett Bond hit his fifth home run of the season.  The winning pitchers were Luke Matheny, Michael Failoni, and Jordan Smith.  The Cats are now 14-3 on the season.

4/10  The Varsity team defeated Priory in 6 innings 10-6.  Brennan Hehner tossed a complete game one-hitter. Jordan Smith, Brett Bond, and Caleb Hicks each had 2 hits. Boys play again Fri 4/11 at home vs Principia. Come watch the fun.

4/7    On Saturday the boys’ Varsity baseball team played in the championship bracket of the 16-team Midwest Classic (having earned their way in pool play during the week).  In the 8:30 game the Cats soundly defeated Ft. Zumwalt West 13-3 in six innings.  After lunch, the Cats beat Vianney 4-3 on a bottom of the seventh walk off home run by Brett Bond.  In the nightcap, the Cats took on defending Class 5 State Champion Francis Howell.  The Cats found themselves down early, but they fought back and put the tying runs on in the bottom of the seventh.  However, when the dust settled the Cats had to settle for second place in the tournament as Howell prevailed 10-8.  The Cats’ record heading into their home opener on Tuesday 4/8  against Principia is 10 wins against three losses.

3/26   The Varsity baseball team came from behind last night 3/25 to defeat Parkway North 10-5.  Caleb Hicks drove in the tying run in the top of the seventh inning and Brett Bond hit a bases loaded double to plate the winning runs in the top of the eighth.  Caleb Hicks, in relief of Brennen Hehner, picked up the win.  The Cats are now 6 – 0 on the season and travel to Parkway South today 3/26 to play the 4-0 Patriots.
