Westminster boys tennis aims to teach players how to strengthen their relationship with Christ and better the community. Tennis players should leave the program feeling more confident in their own abilities and more prepared to engage the world than when they entered the program. Whether it is learning how to fight through the emotional ups and downs of an individual match, striving to perfect physical talents and gifts, understanding how to interact as a team and community, or hosting a nonprofit fundraiser, the tennis season at Westminster should be a season of growth.
The boys tennis team has competed in seven state Final Fours (2004, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2021) finishing in 2nd place twice, 3rd place twice, and 4th place three times. The doubles team of Derek Bell and Bailey Merkel won the state championship twice (2013, 2014) and Seth Noel and Daniel Stengel won it once (2021). The team has also collected six district championships (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2010, and 2021).
