2016-17 Season

9/28  The softball team had an impressive offensive performance on senior night defeating Ladue 17-2. Dani Mabry threw a complete game, surrendering only 2 hits and striking out 5. Lauren Gates scored 4 times, Brooke Lemp had 2 RBI and 3 runs scored, and Maddie Volding tallied 6 RBI.

9/27  The softball team fell to St. Joseph 17-7 last night. Izzi Clawson was 3-for-3 with 2 doubles, 2 RBI and 1 run scored. The team looks to get back on the right track at home today with senior night against Ladue at 4:15.

9/21 The softball team lost a close game to Parkway West 6-5 yesterday. The comeback was fueled by a stellar defensive effort by Katelynn Graham who also hit in the tying run. Deanne Pfyl put the Wildcats on top in the 6th inning, but it was not enough as the Longhorns answered with 2 in the 7th. The wildcats have a home game today at 4:15 vs. Living Word Christian.

8/30 The softball team completed a 16-5 win over St. Charles West last night. Maddie Volding helped the offense with 4 RBIs, with Dani Mabry and Lauren Gates each adding 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Madelyn Trost also had a solid effort behind the plate, not allowing any stolen bases.

8/25/16 The softball team started out their season with a 9-6 win over Lutheran St. Charles. The wildcats were led by a stellar pitching effort from Sophomore Dani Mabry, allowing only 7 hits while throwing a complete game. The offense was carried by freshman Reese Earleywine, who had 3 runs scored, 2 RBIs, and a stolen base in her first varsity game. 10/09   The team battled to the end but came up short 7-9,  in District play against St. Charles West. Congrats, girls, on a fantastic season. Thanks for your hard work and your love of the game and for each other. Seniors, you were fantastic leaders- you will be missed!

10/6   The Cats fell to Ursuline in their last regular season game.  Maddie Volding led the offense going 2-for-2 with a 2-run homerun.  Taylor Dorsey had a double and Annie Backs also had a hit.  The team begins postseason play on Thursday night against St. Charles West at 6:30pm.  Come to Lindenwood University to cheer us to victory!

10/5   The Cats won their last regular season home game 8-0 over St. Pius X.  Keely Sweet had 10 strikeouts to lead the defense. Sweet and Annie Backs each had 2 RBIs.  Katelynn Graham and Maddie Volding also each had a run batted in.  The team travels to Ursuline tomorrow 10/6 to wrap up the regular season.  Districts start on Thursday at Lindenwood!

10/1  The Cats battled but fell to a tough Cor Jesu team 3-11.  Annie Backs, Taylor Dorsey, Keely Sweet, and Megan Wibbenmeyer (our seniors!) each had a hit to add to their celebration on Senior Night.  Maddie Volding and Rachel Strothkamp also had hits. Deanne Pfyl and Wibbenmeyer each knocked in an RBI.  Pitcher Keely Sweet had 11 Ks.   The team plays their last regular season home game on Friday against vs. St. Pius X at 4:15.  Districts start next Thursday at 6:30 at Lindenwood!

9/29  The offense exploded for 19 hits in a 12-5 win over St. Joe.  Keely Sweet and Dani Mabry combined for 6 strikeouts in the victory.  Madelyn Trost threw out a runner trying to take 2nd and Maddie Volding was a vacuum at third snagging two tough grounders going to her glove side.  The team plays again today at WCA vs. Hillsboro at 4:15.

9/25  Keely Sweet threw a perfect game (no hits, no walks!) in the team’s win over Principia.  She was supported by the strong defense of Deanne Pfyl, Maddie Volding, Madelyn Trost, and Taylor Dorsey.  The offense was solid, as well, with 14 hits.  In addition to her excellent pitching performance, Sweet went 3-for-3 at the plate.  Annie Backs was 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs.  Dorsey, Volding, Pfyl, Trost, Megan Wibbenmeyer, and Rachel Strothkamp also added hits.  The team has 4 games next week. Come see them at home on Tuesday, Wednesday (senior night!) or Friday!

9/24   The offense exploded for 13 hits in an 11-1 win over Christian High.  Annie Backs led the way going 3-for-4 with a double and a triple.  Izzi Clawson, Maddie Volding, Keely Sweet, and Rachel Strothkamp also had multi-hit games.  Pitcher Keely Sweet allowed only 1 hit, striking out 6 batters.  The team plays Principia today at 4:15 at WCA.

9/18     The team earned their 7th win with a 7-5 victory over Parkway North.  Freshman pitcher Dani Mabry allowed no runs in her innings pitched.  Annie Backs went 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored and Taylor Dorsey added a 2-run HR late in the game for much needed run support.  Mabry, Maddie Volding, and Izzi Clawson also had hits.  The next game is Wednesday at Christian High O’Fallon.

9/16 The Cats won in exciting fashion yesterday with a comeback, extra inning game against Parkway Central winning 3-2.  Annie Backs scored the first run on a fantastic bunt by Maddie Volding.  Taylor Dorsey tied up the game in the bottom of the 8th with a homerun to center field.  Then, in the bottom of the 9th, after a triple by Izzi Clawson, Dorsey hit a hard single to left field to win the game. Pitcher Keely Sweet and Catcher Madelyn Trost were relentless from beginning to end.  Sweet allowed only 4 hits and struck out 10.    The team travels to Parkway North on Thursday.

9/15   The Cats lost to a tough Lutheran South team yesterday.  Izzi Clawson, Maddie Volding, and Keely Sweet each had 2 hits. Taylor Dorsey and Rachel Strothkamp also added hits. Outfielder Erin King connected with catcher Madelyn Trost to make an amazing play, throwing out a runner coming home to score.  The team returns to the field today against Parkway Central at WCA at 4:15.

9/14  The team hit the ball hard and played great defense but came up short against a strong Notre Dame team, 1-3.  Taylor Dorsey went 2-for-3 with a double.  Keely Sweet had a hit and RBI.  Maddie Volding and Deanne Pfyl also added hits.  Rachel Strothkamp scored the only run with her smart, scrappy base-running.  Madelyn Trost was a wall behind the plate.  The Cats continue league play today Mon 9/14 against Lutheran South.  Come cheer them on at WCA at 4:15!

9/10  The offense was on fire producing 11 hits in their 9-2 win over Parkway West.  Annie Backs, Keely Sweet, Taylor Dorsey, and Brooke Lemp had multi-hit games, including a long double from Lemp.  Deanne Pfyl and Izzi Clawson made outstanding plays in the field to lead the defense behind Keely Sweet’s 3-hit pitching performance.  The team travels to Notre Dame on Friday.

9/4 Varsity won big over Ladue yesterday scoring 17 runs to Ladue’s 2 runs.  Maddie Volding went 2-for-2 with 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored.  Rachel Strothkamp went 2-for-2 with 2 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. Keely Sweet and Brooke Lemp also had hits and Megan Wibbenmeyer and Dani Mabry each had 2 RBIs.  The next game is Tuesday 9/8 vs. Clayton at WCA.

9/3  The Cats fell 0-3 to a tough Kennedy team.  Annie Backs and Taylor Dorsey each went 2-for-3.  Keely Sweet had 9 strikeouts.  The team is home again today against Ladue at 4:15pm

9/2   The Cats earned their 3rd win of the season with a big win over Lutheran North 21-0.  Keely Sweet went 4-for-4 with 2 doubles, a triple, and 8 RBIs.  Taylor Dorsey, Annie Backs, and Rachel Strothkamp also had hits.  Freshman Dani Mabry pitched great in her Varsity debut to add to Sweet’s strong start and Madelyn Trost was solid behind the plate.  Next game is today at home vs. Kennedy at 4:15pm.

8/27    9 hits were scattered by 8 different players in a 15-5 win over Lutheran St. Charles. Izzi Clawson led the base running with 6 stolen bases. Brooke Lemp and Clawson scored three times each. Maddie Volding, Deanne Pfyl, and Taylor Dorsey had 2 RBIs each. The team begins league play next Tuesday 9/1 at Lutheran North.

8/26/15    The Varsity softball team began their season with a close loss to Incarnate Word, falling 3-4.  Taylor Dorsey went 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs and a double.  Sophomores Deanne Pfyl and Izzi Clawson each had a hit.  Pitcher Keely Sweet struck out 7. The team is on the field again today at 4pm vs. Rosati Kain at WCA.

8/25/15    The Varsity Softball team earned their first win of the season with a 16-6 victory over Rosati Kain.  Annie Backs went 2-for-3 with 6 RBIs.  Taylor Dorsey, Erin King, and Keely Sweet also added hits to propel the aggressive base running by the Wildcats. Keely Sweet and Madelyn Trost were a great pitcher-catcher combination.  Sweet had 10 Ks and 0 walks.  The Round Robin Tournament ends today.  Come cheer on the team at 4pm  8/26at WCA as they take on a tough Lutheran St. Charles!

10/20/14   Down 7-2 entering the bottom of the seventh, the team made an exciting comeback, scoring six to win the Sectional title over Incarnate Word.  Deanne Pfyl scored the winning run on a walk off by Izzi Clawson.  The team ended their season on Saturday with a loss in the quarterfinals to a tough Mexico High School team.  Stephanie Strothkamp and Rachel Strothkamp each had a hit.  The Varsity softball team finished 13-5 for the season.

10/13/14  The Varsity girls’ softball team defeated Duchesne 17-13 in the District Championship!  Taylor Dorsey went three-for-four with a bases clearing triple and five RBIs.  Deanne Pfyl also went three-for-four with two RBIs.  Annie Backs and Maddie Volding each scored three runs.  Keely Sweet pitched well in tough conditions and earned her 12th win with four strikeouts.  Madelyn Trost had a great game behind the plate.  The team moves on to Sectionals at WCA on Wednesday 10/15 – weather permitting. Admission will be $6.00. Please come out and support the team.  Congratulations to Taylor Dorsey, Keely Sweet, and Maddie Volding on making the All-District First Team.

10/7/14  The Varsity girls’ softball team ended the regular season 10-4  with a 7-6 win over Ursuline.  Annie Backs was two-for-four with two RBIs.  Izzi Clawson also added two RBIs.  Rachel Strothkamp reached base every at bat including a double to the fence.  Keely Sweet earned her 10th win with seven strikeouts.  Districts begin Thursday at Lindenwood at 4:30 p.m.

10/1/14  The Varsity girls’ softball team beat Visitation 12-2 yesterday 9/29.  Maddie Volding, Keely Sweet, and Deanne Pfyl had multi-hit games.  Volding had five RBIs.  Brooke Lemp and Taylor Dorsey scored twice.  Sweet earned her ninth win with seven strikeouts.  The team travels to Cor Jesu today 10/1.

9/30/14  Last week, the JV girls’ softball team played hard but fell to Lutheran South.  The defense was led again by great pitching from Rachel Strothkamp and third baseman Vikki MacKoul who made multiple outs.  Jerrica Flakes had a multi-hit game.  Sarah Nolting and Lexie Dark each added a hit and scored twice.  The JV team ends their season on Thursday with a home game against Parkway-Central.

A big sixth inning propelled a come-from-behind Varsity girls’ softball team win against Christian High  11-10 last Wednesday.  Down big going into the inning, the Cats scored six runs to take a one run lead into the seventh.  Rachel Strothkamp started the rally with a double.  Dorsey, Volding, and Stephanie Strothkamp kept the rally going until Madelyn Trost’s hit scored Strothkamp to put the Cats in the lead.
The team is now 8-3 after a loss to St. Joseph  0-5 yesterday 9/29.  Taylor Dorsey went two -for-three with a double.  Annie Backs and Keely Sweet each added a hit.  The Varsity plays Visitation today 9/30 at WCA at 4:15.  It is Stephanie Strothkamp night (AKA Senior Night)!

9/19/14  Taylor Dorsey crushed her second homerun of the season in the Cats loss to Parkway-North yesterday.  Rachel Strothkamp, Annie Backs and Megan Wibbenmeyer also had hits.  The next Varsity game is Wednesday 9/24 at WCA against Christian High.

9/18/14  The JV girls’ softball team played hard but lost to Notre Dame.  The defense had many great plays.  Vikki MacKoul and Allison Thoenen connected for multiple outs from third to first and Jerrica Flakes made a juggling catch in center field.  Flakes also had a hit that scored Sarah Nolting.  Katelyn Wallace and Rachel Strothkamp each went 1-2.  The team plays at home next Tuesday 9/23.

9/17/14  Bases loaded, two outs in the bottom of the seventh and the Wildcats hung on to the lead to win 4-3 over Parkway Central. Annie Backs, Maddie Volding and Rachel Strothkamp had RBIs. JV plays at Notre Dame today 9/17 at 4:15.

9/16/14  The Varsity girls’ softball team suffered their first loss 3-13 to a great Lutheran-South team yesterday.  Taylor Dorsey had a two-run homerun, Keely Sweet went 2-3 with two doubles and Annie Backs scored twice.  The team plays at Parkway-Central at 4:15 today.

9/15/14  The Varsity girls’ softball team remained unbeaten with a 10-2 victory over Notre Dame Friday.  The offense was on fire with 15 hits.  Brooke Lemp, Maddie Volding, Erin King, Annie Backs, and Keely Sweet had multi-hit games including a homerun from Keely in the second inning.  The team takes on Lutheran-South at 4:15 today 9/15.

9/12/14   The Varsity girls’ softball team improved to 5-0 with a win over Principia  16-0.  The offense exploded with 13 hits.  Taylor Dorsey led the team with three doubles and five RBIs.  Erin King, Keely Sweet, Annie Backs, and Maddie Volding added to the score with powerful hits.  Sweet was on point from the rubber throwing her second consecutive one-hitter.  She had eight Ks.  Next game is today against Notre Dame at WCA at 4:15.
The JV girls’ softball team had a big 13-0 win over Principia.  Rachel Strothkamp had four Ks in front of a solid defense.  Lexie Dark and Lauren Koncki led the offense with solid hits and Faith Wickham scored three runs.  The team plays Notre Dame at home next Wednesday.

9/9/14  The Varsity softball team improved to 4-0 with an 8-1 victory over Ladue.  Izzy Clawson went 2-4 and scored twice.  Keely Sweet and Stephanie Strothkamp each had two RBIs.  Keely allowed just one hit and had seven strikeouts.  The girls play at Clayton today  9/9 at 4:15.

 9/3/14  With an exciting 2-0 win over Kennedy, the team moves to 3-0.  The defense was at the top of their game, making many big plays to get out of tough situations.  A double by Taylor Dorsey set up Keely Sweet to hit in Annie Backs in the 4th inning.  Later in the 6th, Dorsey was on again and scored on an error caused by a great bunt from Stephanie Strothkamp. Keely Sweet picked up her third win.  The next Varsity game is at Ladue on Monday 9/8. The JV team plays at Parkway West at 4:15 today 9/4.

9/2/14   On Friday, August 29, after many weather related cancellations, the Varsity softball team began their season with a victory over Lutheran-St. Charles—9-3.  Freshman Maddie Volding went 3-4 with a double, triple and three RBIs. Keely Sweet got the win. Yesterday, the girls began their Metro League play with a commanding victory over Lutheran-North.  Stephanie Strothkamp and Annie Backs each went 1-1 with three RBIs.  The team plays Kennedy at 4:15 today 9/3.

10/7   Down 9-2 in the fifth inning, things were looking bleak, but the Wildcats were not done yet.  The Bats came alive producing 10 runs in the bottom of the fifth.  Jensen Holt went three-for-four with three runs scored.  Taylor Dorsey went three-for-four with two RBIs and a homerun.  Kristen Ahlbrand knocked in a grand slam to continue the rally.  Excellent pitching by Sydney Seabaugh kept St. Charles-West under control and the Cats came away with a 12-10 victory.  Tonight 10/8  is Senior Night! Come out and support your Lady Wildcats!

10/3  With great defense to support pitchers Stephanie Strothkamp and Sydney Seabaugh, the Wildcats won a great game against Christian High—4-3.  Jensen Holt went two-for-three with three RBIs.  Brooke Lemp went two-for-three with an RBI and run scored.  They play at Lindbergh 10/3 and are back at home on Friday 10/4 vs. St. Pius X.

9/30 The team played a great game against Notre Dame yesterday but came up short.  Kristen Ahlbrand went two-for-three with a double and a two-run homerun.  Sydney Seabaugh added two hits and scored twice.

9/24  In an exciting, “come-from-behind” battle, the varsity girls softball team defeated Parkway Central, 7-6.  Down 4-6 going into the bottom of the seventh, clutch hits by Kristen Ahlbrand, Jensen Holt, Joi Malloyd, and Kendra Slater set up Annie Backs for a game winning double to right field, scoring pinch runner Megan Wibbenmeyer.  Sydney Seabaugh earned the win.  The team returns to play again next week with a game every day.

9/19 The varsity girls softball team played well in a 14-4 win over Principia yesterday.  Stephanie Strothkamp got the win on the mound and went two-for-three from the plate.  Jensen Holt and Sydney Seabaugh each went three-for-four and Kristen Ahlbrand was perfect at the plate going three-for-three with three doubles and four RBIs.  The team is home this weekend 9/20-21 in the Westminster Round Robin Tournament.

9/11  The varsity girls softball team defeated Lutheran North 21-7 last night.  Kristen Ahlbrand led the charge going four-for-six with five RBIs.  Jensen Holt and Elise Burton added three RBIs each.  9/12  the team plays Cor Jesu at Westminster at 4:15 p.m.

9/9   The varsity and JV girls softball teams lost  against tough Francis Howell Central teams.  Elise Burton, Jensen Holt, Kelly Goebel, and Taylor Dorsey each went two-for-three with RBIs.  Kristen Ahlbrand hit a double and had three RBIs.  The varsity softball team plays Lutheran North at North 9/11 at 4:15 p.m.  The JV girls played a shortened game and lost 0-1.

Varsity softball teams battled hard in an exciting game against Ladue but came up short, losing 7-8. Senior Jensen Holt had two hits, freshman Brooke Lemp hit her first varsity RBI, and sophomore Kendra Slater hit a triple to earn two RBIs.  Both the JV and varsity teams play at home on Tuesday, September 3, against Kennedy.
