9/7  Congrats to the girls’ tennis team and their performance in the first two rounds of the Parkway West Doubles Tournament. Play will continue today beginning at 4 p.m. at Westminster. Hattie Means/Alicia Hu will continue competing in Flight 1, and Caroline Hinrichs/Kiley McKee will begin play in the semifinals of Flight 2. 10/1   Congratulations to the girls Varsity tennis team on their upset of number two seeded Villa Duchesne yesterday night. With the dual tied 4-4, Emily Stevenson overcame losing a tough first set and defeated Villa’s number one player 11-9 in a tiebreak! It was truly a team effort as Caroline Hinrichs, Hattie Means, and Sarah Ragsdale all had huge wins too!!! Come out to support us today in the finals against number seeded @ MICDS! #mulan #nemo

9/29      Congratulations to the girls Varsity tennis team who defeated Whitfield 5-0 in the first round of Team Districts. Hattie Means secured the fifth point of the match at number five singles. The team plays Villa today in the quarter finals! Come cheer the girls on at Villa.

9/23     The girls JV tennis team had an awesome victory on Tuesday against Principia.  Westminster won 12-0.  All the girls played hard and fought for each point.  Top honors go to Julia Rockwood and Mia Goff with an 8-7 victory.  They won in a tie-breaker 7-1.  Way to go Lady Wildcats.
Congratulations to the Varsity team on their 8-1 win over Principia yesterday. The players of the match were Kaitlyn Davidson and Sarah Ragsdale who battled their opponents and darkness and pulled out their matches in tiebreaks! Come out today as the girls finish the regular season against Villa and honor our seniors!

8/27/15  Congratulations to the girls Varsity tennis team on their 6-5 win over Parkway West last night. With the match tied 5-5, sophomore Caroline Hinrichs sealed the victory for the Cats with a 6-2 6-4 win at number four singles. Come support the girls as they take on Nerinx today  8/27 at 4:00p.m.

10/7/14  Congratulations to the Varsity girls’ tennis team on a great season!  The girls ended with a third place finish from Sarah Betz and Emily Stevenson in District doubles and a fourth place finish from Madaline Ross in District singles!  The team will miss seniors Sarah Betz, Sarah Jane Fiala, Madaline Ross, Callie Christen, Rachel Charles, Ellie Bacon, and Madison Stoecker next year!

10/3/14  The JV girls’ tennis team had a very successful outing at the Metro League Doubles Tournament.  Caroline Hinrichs and Maggie Kurop placed first in the No. 1 flight.  Hannah Brown and Brittany Johnson placed second in the No. 6 flight. Sarah Shoemaker and Tiffany Johnson placed second in the No. 8 flight. Congratulations!  This was an awesome ending to the season.

9/29/14  The Varsity girls’ tennis team had two great wins last week against Principia and Villa!  With the Villa match tied 3-3 on Wednesday evening, Senior Captain Sarah Betz overcame a late break in the second set and a bee sting and sealed a 4-3 victory for WCA!  Congratulations on a great regular season girls!  Come out and support the team this week as they play Districts at WCA Monday through Friday!
The JV girls’ tennis team had an extremely competitive match against Villa.  Several of the matches were decided with third set tie-breakers.  The match of the day was with the doubles team of Hannah Grace Smith and Hannah Sabadell.  It was a battle of wills between the two teams.  Smith and Sabadell won the first set 12-10 in the tie-breaker, lost the second set, then came back fighting in the third set tie-breaker 10-7 to win the match.  Way to fight to the very last point girls! Congratulations on your victory.
The Middle School girls’ tennis team had another fabulous showing at their tournament.  Katherine O’Leary and Anna Rockwood won their flights, Hattie Means, Caroline Kopsky, Charis Thompson, Abigail Staats and Camryn McMurray placed second in their flights and Lauren Lucas and Jordan Mette placed third in their flights.  All the Lady Wildcats got first place in sportsmanship and being God’s light to their opponents.  Job well done girls, we couldn’t be more proud of you!

9/24/14   The JV girls’ tennis team defeated Principia 9-0.  The doubles team of Tiffany Johnson and Somin Kim had the match of the day.  It was a long and hard fought battle to the very end. They won in a tie-breaker 7-4.  Congratulations girls!  Come watch the final JV match on Wednesday.

9/22/14  The Varsity girls’ tennis team defeated Nerinx Hall Friday 9/19 evening 5-2!  Doubles pairings of Sarah Betz/SJ Fiala, Callie Christen/Sarah Ragsdale, and Tessa “Birthday Girl” Copeland/Rachel Charles were stellar and Margo Koby and Emily Stevenson sealed the deal with solid wins in singles.  Congratulations girls!  Come out and support the team in their last week of the regular season as they host Cor Jesu and Principia Monday and Tuesday.

9/19/14  Congratulations to the Varsity girls’ tennis team on their victory over Lutheran-South Wednesday evening.  The team took an early 3-0 lead after strong wins in doubles by Sarah Betz and Emily Stevenson, Callie Christen and SJ Fiala, and Tessa Copeland and Rachel Charles.  With the team needing just one more victory, Senior Captain Madaline Ross battled back from a set down and defeated her opponent at number one singles to seal the dual.  The final score was 4-3.

 9/17/14  The Varsity girls’ tennis doubles team of Mollie Ottsen/Hannah Haguewood and Sarah Shoemaker/Sydney Johnson were victorious in their matches against Visitation.  And to  Sarah Betz and Emily Stevenson who defeated 2013 State qualifiers 8-1 in their match on Tuesday against Visitation.  Way to go girls!

9/15/14  Congratulations to the Varsity girls’ tennis team on a strong showing at the Parkway-West Doubles Tournament!  Special congratulations to SJ Fiala and Callie Christen who finished fourth place in the second doubles flight; Ellie Bacon and Julie Griesedieck/Margo Koby who finished third place in the fourth doubles flight; and Tessa Copeland and Rachel Charles who finished first place in the fifth doubles flight.
Congratulations to the JV girls’ tennis team of Caroline Hinrichs and Maggie Kurop for winning flight one and to Sydney Stillman and Chelsea Caplinger for placing second in flight five of the MICDS JV Girls Doubles Tennis Tournament.  They showed great effort and determination throughout the Tournament.  Way to go Lady Cats.
Congratulations to the Middle School girls’ tennis team of Josie Christen, Katie Hobaugh, Isabella Francois and Grace Dempsey for each winning their flight in the Middle School Girls Tennis Tournament.  Great Job girls!

9/5/14  Congratulations to Varsity girls’ tennis players Sarah Ragsdale and Callie Christen on their strong at the Metro League Tennis Tournament this week.  Sarah and Callie fought hard to win the number three doubles flight 8-2.  Sarah kept her focus for a tough championship match in the number seven singles flight.  With a heat index of 104.888, Sarah took home the title, defeating her MICDS opponent 8-5.  Come out and support the Varsity girls’ tennis team as they play every day next week at Westminster!

10/19  Congratulations to the varsity girls tennis team for ending their season with a top eight finish in the Team State Tournament this weekend.  The girls finished the season with an 18-5 record and advanced further in the team competition than any girls team in Westminster history.  Special thanks to the leadership of all the seniors—Kaylee Noel, Morgan Siebenman, Esther McGowan, Madi Deves, and senior captains Annie Schlafly, Anna Bergman, and Maddie Ottsen.  You will be missed.

10/10  Congratulations to the varsity girls tennis team on its 5-3 win against defending four-time State Champion Visitation Academy on Thursday!  The girls paid a “VIZ-it” to Visitation on Wednesday and were up 4-2 when the match was suspended due to darkness.  Needing just one more match win Thursday, senior captains Annie Schlafly and Anna Bergman sealed the duel with a win at number one doubles.  The District Championship was the first in Westminster girls tennis history.  Individual singles winners were Anna Bergman, Madi Deves, Madaline Ross, and Esther McGowan.  Doubles winners were Annie Schlafly/Anna Bergman and Emily Stevenson/Sarah Betz, who were winning in the third set when the District Championship was sealed.

10/8  Congratulations!  The varsity girls tennis team won a tough District Semi-Final match against Whitfield yesterday. The final score was 5-2.  Seniors Maddie Ottsen, Madi Deves, and Esther McGowan and junior Madaline Ross all had tough wins in singles.  The match was sealed with a doubles victory from Sarah Betz and Emily Stevenson.  Come support the team as they battle for the District title against Visitation today 10/9 at Viz.

10/5 Congratulations to the varsity girls tennis team for finishing the regular season with a record of 14-4.  The girls picked up a huge victory against Columbia Hickman Friday afternoon.  In singles play, Emily Stevenson and S.J. Fiala battled for singles wins at number five and six.  Down 2-4 in the duel, the girls were not fazed as they took all three doubles matches to win 5-4.  Doubles pairs Annie Schlafly/Anna Bergman, Madi Deves/Maddie Ottsen, and Morgan Siebenman/Ellie Bacon were solid in the comeback victory.  Come out and support the girls as they begin team district play Tuesday 10/8 at home.

10/1  Congratulations to the varsity girls tennis team who defeated Lutheran South 7-0 Monday evening.  Anna Bergman and Maddie Deves pulled out wins in split sets at number one and two singles.  The girls clashed against Principia yesterday evening and won 7-1.  The team completes regular season play Thursday and Friday as they will play John Burroughs, Columbia Hickman, and Columbia Rock Bridge.

The girls JV tennis team had an awesome match against Principia.  All the girls played extremely hard and the Lady Wildcats brought home a victory with the score of 13-3.  Way to go girls.

9/23 Girls beat Cor Jesu yesterday 7-1.  Annie Schlafly sealed match with a two hour battled that ended in a third set tiebreaker (11-9)  Woo!

9/18 The girls JV tennis team played some very smart tennis on Wednesday against Clayton and brought home the victory for Westminster with a score of 11-2.  Please come cheer the JV girls on in their next match on Thursday September 19th at 4 p.m. against Villa.

9/13  Congratulations to the varsity girls tennis team who RETURNED to Dual Play Friday evening and RALLIED for an 8-1 victory over Ursuline.  All thirteen players (including one in San Francisco) contributed to the win. Come support the team as they gear up for 5 matches in 5 days next week!

9/12  Congratulations to Sarah Ragsdale and Tessa Copeland.  They won Flight No. 1 in the MICDS JV girls tennis tournament this week.  They battled through the hot temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday and won their final match on Thursday—6-3, 6-2 against Cor Jesu.  Come cheer them and the rest of JV and varsity as well today, Friday the 13th,  as they take on Ursuline at home at 4 p.m.

9/10  Here are the results from the MICDS tournament today:  Flight #1 of Sarah Ragsdale/Tessa Copeland won their match against Villa. They will play Cor Jesu in the finals.  Flight #4 of Ashlyn Wiggins/Julie Griesedieck won their match against Burroughs.  They will play MICDS in the finals.  Flights #2, 3 and 5 had very strong competition.  Many of the games went to 3-3 but we just couldn’t seem to win enough of those close games.

9/9 Congratulations to the varsity girls tennis team for their 1st place finish in the Metro League Tournament last week.  The girls won 7 of 13 flights to NET the most team points overall.  Below are the results.

Come cheer the girls on this week as they MATCH up against the top teams from the St. Louis area in the Parkway West Doubles Tournament.  Westminster is all SET to host the tournament this Tuesday through Thursday! Then we face  Ursuline Friday!

9/6 The girls JV tennis team had great success at the Burroughs Tournament this past week.  They brought home a victory of 3-2 over a very competitive Villa team.  The girls showed great determination and fight as three of the five matches went to third set tie-breakers.  With this victory they advanced to the final round on Friday against Burroughs.  The Lady Cats were victorious over the Bombers 4-1.  Congratulations girls on a well played tournament.

Congratulations to the Westminster girls varsity tennis team who raised a racket yesterday, defeating Nerinx Hall High School 10-0.  The team battled through the heat and didn’t surrender a single set.  Singles victories were scored by players Annie Schlafly, Anna Bergman, Madi Deves, Maddie Ottsen, Esther McGowan, Sarah Betz, and Kaylee Noel.  Key doubles victories were made by Madaline Ross and Emily Stevenson, Callie Christen and Morgan Siebenman, and SJ Fiala and Ellie Bacon.

Come support the girls next week as they battle for the Metro League title on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.  We would love to see you there!

The JV girls tennis team scored its first victory of the season with a win over Nerinx 9-4.  They also persevered through the heat and humidity.  Come see the girls in action over the next several weeks!
