Girls Golf: The Weekly Rundown

2016-17 Season

10/12 Westminster had two girl golfers make it through to the State Championship in Columbia this year. Macie Daniels and Taylor French carried the WCA banner high and played very well on the difficult Columbia Country Club course. Macie, playing in her first State competition shot a 98 on the first day and a 94 on day two. Taylor carded an 86 on day one and a wonderful 78 on day two to become a top 20 medalist. Taylor’s 14th place finish was her second consecutive year to finish with the ALL STATE honor. Congratulations to all the girls on this year’s team for their sweat, tears and hard work on the season! “State Bound in 2017”

10/4   Congrats to the Var girls golf team for their 3rd place finish yesterday at the Sectional Golf Tournament in Farmington MO. The Cats placed just behind St. Joe and MICDS. The Cats saved their best performances of the season for this tournament with each golfer turning in her best score of the year. Taylor French lead the way with her 78 while Macie Daniels finished with an 83. Allie Sigman carded an 87 and MaryKate Kopsky finished the day with a 90. Despite their great efforts playing the hardest Sectional in the State the team was only able to push their top two players onto the State Tournament next Monday and Tuesday in Columbia.

9/27  The team survived the very difficult Class 2 District 2 Championships yesterday. The team placed 4th out of the 10 schools. It didn’t come without heartbreak though as only 4 out of the 5 team members qualified for the Sectional Tournament next week. Taylor French and Allie Sigman tied for 7th place while Macie Daniels and MaryKate Kopsky placed 20th and 22nd respectively. This is the 6th straight year that the team has qualified a team for the Sectional contest. Congratulations Lady Cats!

9/23  The varsity golf team finished their regular season by defeating Villa 152 – 175. Taylor French collect the medalist honors and was followed closely by Allie Sigman and Macie Daniels. Others contributing to the scores were MaryKate Kopsky and Soph Chandler Estes. The Cats will compete in the very tough Class 2 District 2 on Monday hoping to advance to Sectionals. The Cats finished the regular season 12 – 2.

9/22  The varsity girls golf team ran its record to 11-2 last evening by defeating Borgia and Union at The Wolf Hollow Golf Course  111-123/142. Taylor French and Macie Daniels shared the co-medalist honors with their even par scores of 35. Also scoring for the Cats were MaryKate Kopsky, Allie Sigman, Abby Nall and Natalie Bunton. Others playing well for the Cats were Olivia Holt, Sophia Granata, Bridgett Grimm and Alyssa Cannon. The Cats next action will be Thursday after school against Villa.
The jv girls fell to Ursuline yesterday in a very close match 141-144. Sophia Mullen had her best round of the year to pace the Cats as she shot a 34 on the par 27 layout. Her round inlcuded back-to-back birdies! Close behind was Jordan Shaw(35), Chandler Estes(37) and freshman Madison Tucker with a season best 38. Nice job to all the girls!

9/21  The jv girls golfers brought home a victory against Burroughs yesterday 158-178. Chandler Estes and Sophia Mullen were meet medalists as they both shot 35 on the par 27 layout. Olivia Holt and Sofia Granata also had counting scores for the Cats. Nice job ladies!

9/16  Jordan Shaw was the meet medalist on Wednesday as she led WCA JV Golf to a victory over
Cor Jesu 180-201. Chandler Estes and Alyssa Cannon both contributed to the victory as well. Bridgette Grimm and Sophia Mullen tied for the last counting score for the cats. Great job ladies!
The Varsity girls won another close one yesterday by defeating Cor Jesu 179-179
with the tie breaker. After a half hour lightning delay Taylor French medaled for the Cats with a 41 while
Macie Daniels followed just behind her. MaryKate Kopsky and Allie Sigman added to the scoring while Abby Nall’s card won the match with the tie breaking score. The Cats are currently 8 -1.

9/14  The girls golf team has played 2 matches in 2 days and have either won or lost by a difference of 4 strokes. The Cats lost a close match with John Burroughs (This year’s Angel Classic Champions) yesterday 164-169. The Wildcats shot one of their lowest scores ever in the loss. Macie Daniels was the match medalist with a 40 and was followed closely by Allie Sigman who carded a 41. MaryKate Kopsky and Taylor French finished the scoring with 44’s each. Abby Nall and Bridgett Grimm also played well for the Wildcats. 

9/13  The Varsity girls golf team played one of their toughest battles of the season vs. Nernix Hall yesterday. When the dust had cleared from the fight the Wildcats had prevailed by a single stroke, 172 – 173. Macie Daniels carded the lowest score of the day with her 3 over par 39. MaryKate Kopsky contributed a 42 while Taylor French added a 43. The final score for the Wildcats was delivered by Natalie Bunton and Alyssa Cannon with a 48 each. Great job Cats!

9/8  The jv girls golf team fought hard but came up a little bit short yesterday losing to Ursuline 142-148. Chander Estes led the way for the Cats shooting a six-over-par 33. Next in line were Jordan Shaw and Sophia Mullen with 36’s. Catie George rounded out the scoring for the Cats.

9/7  The varsity girls played a scorcher yesterday with temperatures reaching into the mid 90’s but the teams earlier training in that type of heat paid off. The girls defeated both teams in the tri-match against Ursuline and Incarnate Word 173, 175, 199. Taylor French was the match medalist with her score of 39. Others scoring for the Cats were MaryKate Kopsky and Allie Sigman with 44’s and Macie Daniels with a 46. This marks the Cats 6th straight victory and no defeats!

9/1  The varsity girls’ golf team flew into the Landings at Spirit of St. Louis with ideas of
winning their third straight match and they did not disappoint. The team was able to finish off Barat Academy in the Best Ball match. MaryKate Kopsky and Macie Daniels finished as the match medalist with their one under par score of 35. The other squad of Taylor French and Casey Moeslein finished second with their score of 40. The Cats are back at it again today  9/1 as they play in their first tri-meet of the season when as take on Lutheran South and Burroughs at Sunset Hill/Lakes.

8/30  Westminster fielded three teams at the JV Angel Classic golf tournament on Monday. The team of Amanda Ahlbrand, Madison Grega, Olivia Holt, Lily Lackey, and Jordan Shaw brought home the 3rd place trophy. WCA’s other two teams finished 4th and 5th in the 11-team field. Individually Westminster placed eight girls in the top 15 who all brought home medals. The field consisted of 58 golfers. Amanda Ahlbrand, Olivia Holt, and Bridgett Grimm all shot 50’s and tied for 4th place. Jordan Shaw tied for 7th shooting a 51. Natalie Bunton was 9th with a 52. Alyssa Cannon and Sophia Granata tied for 10th with 54’s, and freshman Sophia Mullen placed 14th shooting a 55. Great job to all the girls who participated!

8/25   The Varsity girls made it two wins in a row yesterday on the steamy Quail Creek golf course. The Wildcats defeated Notre Dame High School in a Best ball match. The team of Taylor French and Macie Daniels were the medalist for the match with their -2 under par score. MaryKate Kopsky and Allie Sigman placed second with an even par score while Abby Nall and Bridgett Grimm brought home the bronze. #Great Start to the season!

8/24  The girls JV golfers split their first match of the season beating St. Jo and losing to Incarnate Word. Congratulations to Jordan Shaw who was the meet medalist shooting a 47! Chandler Estes was next in line for WCA shooting a 56. Sophia Mullen and Sarah Brown also had counting scores for the Cats. Nice job girls!

8/23/16  The varsity golf team came away with a big victory in their first match of the season. The girls shot a 174 team score for a great start to the new campaign. Their opponents, Lutheran St. Charles could only muster a 236. Taylor French led the way for the Wildcats with her 3 over par 39. Macie Daniels scored a 42. Allie Sigman carded a 43 and Abby Nall rounded out the scoring with her 48. The girls are working hard to lower their scores in preparation to defend their District Championship title from last year

10/14  In Girls Golf, McKenna Montgomery collected her 3rd All State Honor yesterday by placing 3rd overall with her two day scores of 74 & 74.  Taylor French also became an All Stater by placing 13th out of the 91 girls at the tournament.  Taylor shot scores of 81 and 79. Congratulations on a great showing at State!

10/5   The Varsity Girls Golf Team competed in the Class 2 Sectional  golf tournament yesterday.  Marquette won with a 344 while St. Joe finished 2nd with a 349.  The Wildcats shot a 366 for 3rd place overall.  Sr. McKenna Montgomery carded a 3 over par 75 for the top spot in the tournament, gaining her 4th straight trip to the State tournament.  The next best score was a 6 over par 78.  Jr. Taylor French took the 10th spot in the field of 50 golfers for her 2nd straight year to advance to the State Tournament in Springfield MO.  Others competing were MaryKate Kopsky, Mace Daniels and Allie Sigman.

 9/30  Congratulation to the Girls Varsity Golf Team on their District Championship yesterday!  The Cats recorded their second best team score ever (323) to defeat Powerhouse’s Marquette (332), Eureka (355), and Lafayette (362).  In the victory McKenna Montgomery scored the lowest Wildcat score ever with her 1 under par 71 and was crowned the tournament Champion!  Taylor French tied for 2nd place overall with her 76.  Macie Daniels carded an 87 to tie for 10th place while Allie Sigman added an 89 and tied for 15th place.  MaryKate Kopsky also played well for the final score for the Wildcats.   The Cats will now prepare for Monday’s Sectional Championship at Forest Hills Country Club.  Great job lady Cats on one of the greatest tournament victories ever.

9/25  The Varsity Girls Golf team won its last regular match of the season over Incarnate Word 179- 202.  The victory ran the girls regular season record to 11-2.  Taylor French shot a 2 over par 38 to become the match medalist at the old Normandie Golf Course.  McKenna Montgomery placed just  behind Taylor while Alyssa Cannon, Macie Daniels, MaryKate Kopsky and Gracie Nye finished out the scoring.  During the match Taylor French carded an Eagle with a chip-in on hole 6, 226 yard par 4.  The Cats will participate in their District Championship on Tuesday.  Great job girls!!!
Casey Moeslein and Olivia Holt led the way to victory for the girls jv golf team yesterday as they defeated Incarnate Word 273-278. Other girls who had counting scores for the Cats were: Bridgette Grimm, Amanda Ahlbrand, and Sophia Granata. The gilrs finish the season with a 6-1-1 record. Congratulations on a great year!

9/23  The girls golf team traveled across the Missouri River to the Missouri Bluffs Golf Club yesterday and split the tri-meet with a win and a loss (St. Joe 166, WCA 182, Visitation 230).  McKenna Montgomery was the match medalist for the 10th time this season!  Others scoring for the Wildcats were Taylor French, Allie Sigman and Macie Daniels.  The Cats have one more test on Thursday against Incarnate Word before they tune up for next week’s District Championship.  The Golfing Cats record is now 10-2.

9/22   The girls JV golf team had a great night defeating Visitation 149 – 195. Alyssa Cannon shot a fantastic three-over-par 30 on the par 27 payout. Sophia Granata (38), Bridgette Grimm (40), and Catie George (41) also contributed counting  scores for the Cats. Nice job ladies!

9/18       The Varsity Girls Golf Team won another close match yesterday by defeating Cor Jesu 171, 173.  McKenna Montgomery once again was the medalist in the match, when her scorecard was turned in, she had carded an even par 36.  Taylor French finished 4 over while Allie Sigman and Macie Daniels rounded out the scorers for the Wildcat team.  The Cats record is now 9-1 as the head into the last week of competition before Districts.
Congrats to the jv girls golfers yesterday on their fine performance as they beat MICDS 154-168. Alyssa Cannon was the match medalist shooting a nine-over-par 36 for the Cats. Gracie Nye, Olivia Holt, and Sofia Granata also contributed counting scores for the Cats. Great job ladies!

9/16   The Varsity girls golf team defeated Villa yesterday at Forest Hills 145 – 174.  The victory ran the girls record to 8-1.  McKenna Montgomery collected her 7th medalist honor with her 3 over par 33.  Taylor French followed with a 6 over 36.  Allie Sigman added a 37 and Macie Daniels suppled a 39.  This may be the first time in WCA history that each of the four scoring players were in the 30’s.

9/15  The girls golf team broke a school “team scoring” record in their first loss of the season.  The Cats lost to defending Class 1 State Champions MICDS 148 – 152.  In the loss the girls turned in their best scores of the season;  McKenna Montgomery led the way with her even par 35 on the Log Cabin Country Club course.  Taylor French shot a 37, Macie Daniels carded a 39 and Freshmen Allie Sigman shot her best score of the season, 41.  Others playing well for the Cats were Gracie Nye and MaryKate Kopsky.
In the Junior Varsity “mini” match (a few of the JV golfers went with the Var girls) the Wildcats defeated MICDS 198 – 210.  Sophia Granata shot the best score in that match with her 46.  Casey Moeslein, Bridgett Grimm and Abby Null added nice scores in the victory.
The rest of the girls JV golfers fell to Cor Jesu yesterday 146 – 156. Olivia Holt led the way for WCA shooting a nine-over-par 36. Amanda Ahlbrand was next for WCA with a 39. Jordan Shaw (40) and Alyssa Cannon (41) also contributed counting scores for the Cats.

9/14  Playing in the Angel Classic Golf Tournament Saturday, McKenna Montgomery out paced the field by shooting a 4 over par, 74, in route to her 1st Angel Classic Championship!  The next nearest score was a 78 followed by an 84.  The course was so difficult that half of the 85 golfer scored 100 or higher.  The Wildcats team of Taylor French, Macie Daniels, MaryKate Kopsky, Casey Moeslein and Allie Sigman ended in 4th place of the 13 schools that played.

9/11   The Varsity golf team defeated Barat Academy yesterday 182-238.  McKenna Montgomery was the match medalist with her even par 36!  Taylor French, Macie Daniels, MaryKate Kopsky and Casey Moeslein each played well for the Wildcats at the very difficult Old Hickory Country Club.

9/10  The girls jv golfers played well on Wednesday defeating Burroughs 133 – 151. Alyssa Cannon led the way shooting a seven over par score over the six hole match. Next in line for the Cats was Bridgette Grimm (+10) and Casey Moeslein and Chandler Estes who were both 12 over par. Great job girls!

9/3   Rutherford B Hayes won his Presidential bid by a single Electoral Vote.  Likewise the Varsity girls golf team needed just one stroke to defeat perennial power house Ursuline Academy last evening 182-183.  McKenna Montgomery was the match medalist for the forth time this season with her 40.  Taylor French played well and carded a 41.  While Macie Daniels played steady to collected a 44 on the challenging Westborogh golf course.  The Cats record now stands at 6-0!

9/2  The jv girls golfers gave a strong performance yesterday defeating John Burroughs 147 – 185. Leading the way for the Cats was Alyssa Cannon who shot and eight over par 35. Other girls who had counting scores for the Cats were: Jordan Shaw and Chandler Estes with 37’s and Olivia Holt with a 38. Great job girls!

9/1  The varsity girls golf team defeated both St. Francis Borgia and Lutheran South High Schools yesterday.  McKenna Montgomery and Taylor French shared the medalist honors with their 1 under par performance.  Playing well in the second group were Macie Daniels and MaryKate Kopsky while Gracie Nye and Abby Null rounded out the teams scorers.  The team is now 5-0 and look forward to their next match on Wednesday against Ursuline Academy.
Congrats to the JV girls golf team for taking 2nd & 3rd place in the Angel Classic JV tournament! Allie Sigmon was overall winner with a 43! Other top scorers for the girls were: Amanda Ahlbrand with a 48, Sofia Granata with a 49, Casey Moeslein and Jordan Shaw with 52’s, and Bridget Grimm with a 53. Great job girls!

8/28  The team won a close battle over Nernix Hall yesterday at Sunset Hills Golf Course 170, 174. The Cats were led by McKenna Montgomery’s 1 over par 37 to gather the medalist honor. Taylor French took the 2nd slot with a 41. Allie Sigmon, playing in her first ever varsity match, took the 3rd spot with a 44. Rounding out the final scoring slot was MaryKate Kopsky with her 48. The Cats are now 3 – 0 on the young season and look forward to next Monday’s contest with Lutheran South and Borgia. Way to go Cats!

8/27   They won their season opener yesterday over Lutheran St. Charles and Notre Dame 150, 176, 234. The Wildcats were led by their ace McKenna Montgomery who shot a 3 over par 33 at Forest Hills. Taylor French placed right behind her with a 34! Also playing in her first Varsity match, Jordan Shaw carded a 41 while Gracie Nye added a 42. The Cats play again Thursday against Nernix Hall. 10/15/14  A tip of the hat goes to Taylor French and McKenna Montgomery for playing in this year’s State Championship Golf Tournament.  Monday’s round was cancelled after the girls had played about 12 holes in a steady at times pouring rain.  Tuesday they finished the tournament with a cold and constant 30 mph wind.  Taylor finished her round with a respectable 98.  McKenna became a two-time All-State player with her round of 79.  McKenna’s score of 79 was good enough to place her in a tie for fifth place overall.  These two girls did an outstanding job of representing their school.

 10/7/14  The Varsity girls’ golf team played in the large school Sectional Tournament yesterday and came away with a fourth place finish!  Macie Daniels played the windy course well and finished with a 96.  Senior Captain Morgan Winkelmeier had a slow start but battled back on the back nine to finish with a 98.  Taylor French played steady all day long and finished in the top twelve to advance to the State Tournament with an 88.  Also advancing to State will be McKenna Montgomery who finished fourth overall with an 82.  Congratulations to the Cats!

9/30/14  The Varsity girls’ golf team placed third yesterday at the Class 2 District Championship.  The tournament was held at the very difficult Fox Run golf course causing all teams to shoot scores higher than usual.  McKenna Montgomery’s 81 was good for second place overall and helped anchor the team on to the Sectional Tournament that will be held next Monday.  Morgan Winkelmeier scored 97 and Taylor French and Macie Daniels carded 98’s.  The team placed only six strokes behind second place Lafayette.

9/25/14  The jv girls golf team finished the year nicely by defeating MICDS 140 – 148. Alyssa Cannon again was the match medalist by shooting a six over par 33. Other counting scores for the Cats were: Olivia Holt – 35, Casey Moeslein – 36, and Lily Fiala – 36. Great job to all the girls!

9/24/14  Although the JV girls’ golf team lost yesterday, Alyssa Cannon provided a bright spot for the girls as she shot a six over par 33 and tied for match medalist honors with another girl from St. Joe’s. There were 19 girls that participated in the tri-match.  Great job Alyssa!

9/23/14  The Varsity girls’ golf team defeated Barat Academy yesterday at The Landings at Spirit of St. Louis golf course 117-160.  Changing things from the norm, the two teams played a scramble.  The WCA pair of McKenna Montgomery and Macie Daniels scored a two under par 34 to become the match medalists.  Lauren Griesedieck and Morgan Winkelmeier placed second with their score of 40.  Taylor French and Anna Hagan won their rematch as well.  The Wildcats will play their last regular season match tonight against Visitation Academy at Forest Hills.  The team’s record stands at 11-2 for the season!

9/22/14  The Varsity girls’ golf team played great in the Missouri/Illinois River Challenge Saturday.  McKenna Montgomery led the way with her 76.  Senior Captain Morgan Winkelmeier helped pace the Wildcats by shooting a solid 87.  Freshman Macie Daniels also added a strong round with an 88.  Taylor French completed the scoring with a 90.  Lauren Griesedieck and Gracie Nye had good rounds as well.  The team ended up in fourth place overall with victories over John Burroughs and by tying with St. Joe.  The Missouri schools outpaced their Illinois counterparts and kept the River Challenge trophy on the Missouri side of the river for yet another year.

9/19/14  The girls jv golf team lost to a very good Cor Jesu team yesterday 207-234. Leading the way for the Cats was Casey Moeslein with a 37 on the par 27 layout. Other girls who had counting scores for WCA were: Olivia Holt(38), Sophia Granata(39), Amanda Ahlbrand(39), Anna Hagan(40), Emily Andres(41), and Alyssa Cannon(41).

9/18/14  The Varsity girls’ golf team collected its 10th victory of the season yesterday by downing Cor Jesu 170 – 177.  McKenna Montgomery, Taylor French, Macie Daniels and Gracie Nye added to the Wildcat scoring effort.  The Cats also played MICDS in the match but lost to them for only the second time all season.  The team’s record is now 10-2.

9/17/14  The Varsity girls’ golf team won their ninth match of the season yesterday when they took on Notre Dame 158 – 225.  McKenna Montgomery was the medalist with a four over par 34.  Taylor French placed second with her 37.  Olivia Holt and Macie Daniels rounded out the scoring for the Lady Wildcats.  The team will play MICDS and Cor Jesu tonight as they prepare for this weekend’s Missouri-Illinois River Challenge Tournament on Saturday.
The JV girls’ golf team defeated Burroughs yesterday 164-172.  Leading the way for the Cats was Gracie Nye who shot and eight over par 35.  Lily Fiala, Sophia Granata, and Lily Lackey had the other counting scores for the Cats!  Great job girls!

9/16/14  The Varsity girls’ golf team collected two victories yesterday as they took on Nerinx Hall and archrival Villa in the rain–162, 167, 179.  McKenna Montgomery was the match medalist with her 35.  Taylor French placed one stroke behind her with a 36.  The strong play of Morgan Winkelmeier and Lauren Griesedieck secured the victory for the wet Cats as the final scorecards were tabulated.  The team’s record now stands at eight wins against one loss.  They will take on Notre Dame today9/16 at Crescent Farms.  Congratulations Cats!

9/15/14  Congratulations to the Varsity girls’ golf team and their sixth place finish in the Angel Classic and McKenna Montgomery’s second place finish overall (score 77)!  Taylor French added a very nice score of 89 and finished in 17th place overall.  By placing in the top six, the team has qualified to play in the Missouri-Illinois River Challenge this Saturday at the Orchards Golf Course in Belleville, Illinois.  The top six teams on this side of the river will take on the top six teams from the Illinois side.  Great job girls!

9/12/14  The JV girls lost to Ursuline yesterday 147 -159. Top scorers for the Cats were: Olivia Holt with a 10 over par 37, Sophia Granata with a 39, Casey Moeslein with a 41, and Amanda Ahlbrand with a 41

9/9/14   On a nearly perfect evening at Aberdeen Golf Club, McKenna Montgomery was nearly perfect in her golf game.  McKenna shot a two under par 34 and outpaced the nearest competitor by eight strokes.  Taylor French was second overall with a 42.  Macie Daniels and Morgan Winkelmeier added solid rounds to the Wildcats’ victory.  The Cats are now 6-1 on the season and play arch rival Villa today at Forest Hills.

Congratulations to the JV girls for bringing home a second place trophy from the JV Angel Classic Tournament!  Anna Hagan shot a 49 (second place overall) and Lily Fiala shot a 52 (fifth place overall).  Olivia Holt, Alyssa Cannon, and Emily Andres all shot 54’s to place in the top 15 and bring home medals as well!  Great job to all the girls who participated!

9/5/14  The Varsity girls’ golf team collected their fourth win for the week when they downed the Cougars of Lutheran-St. Charles 150 -202.  The Cats were led by Taylor French’s 34, McKenna Montgomery’s 37 and Morgan Winkelmeier’s 37.  Also adding to the low scores were Lauren Griesedieck and Macie Daniels who each carded a 42.  The Wildcats finished the week with a four and one record.  Girls playing with heart!

9/4/14 The Varsity girls’ golf team split their tri-match yesterday at the Missouri Bluffs golf course, 166 – 175 – 184.  Their victory was over the Class 1 defending State Champions, John Burroughs.  Taylor French led the charge by scoring a season low 41.  McKenna Montgomery carded a 42.  Lauren Griesedieck played well with her 45 and freshman Macie Daniels finished with a 47.  This was a great victory for the Cats playing in only their second match.

10/22  Congratulations to Jessica Dreesbeimdieke and McKenna Montgomery for their successful trip to the Class 1 State Golf Tournament in Sedalia, Missouri!  Jessica won the two day event with scores of 72 and 75 for a total of 147.  She outpaced the nearest golfer by five strokes.  This marks the third consecutive year that a Westminster golfer has won the event.  McKenna Montgomery shot a two day score of 180 that was good enough for 19th place overall in the field of 91 golfers.  This is McKenna’s second straight season for placing in the top 20!  Congratulations to both Westminster golfers for a fantastic end to a great season!

10/21  Jessica Dreesbeimdieke has the lead at the halfway point at the Class 1 Girls Golf State Championships in Sedalia, Missouri.  Jessica shot a one over par 72 to lead the field of 91 golfers from around the state.  McKenna Montgomery has positioned herself in the top 20 with a score of 91.  Both girls look to finish strong.

10/9  The Wildcats Lady golf team competed in the District Championship yesterday at Forest Hills Country Club.  The challenging course gave most golfers trouble all afternoon.  As the smoke cleared at the end of the day the Cats team ended up in fourth place just three strokes form the second place Rams of MICDS.  The Cats did get three of their golfers to advance to the Sectional Tournament that will be played Monday.  Jessica Dreesbeimdieke won the overall District Championship with her score of 78.  McKenna Montgomery finished in 4th place and Megan McDaniel placed 14th.

9/30  The varsity girls golf team had a quality win yesterday when they defeated a good Nerinx Hall team at Sunset Hills Golf Course.  Leading the way as medalist was the 11th time this season was Jessica Dreesbeimdieke with an even par 36.  McKenna Montgomery gave her a challenge with her +3, 39.  Others scoring for the Cats where Megan McDaniel and Captain Claire Kopsky.

9/28  The varsity girls golf team played in the MO/IL River Challenge Golf Tournament on Saturday.  This tournament puts the top 6 team from the St. Louis area against the top 6 teams from the IL side of the river in one tournament.  The Cats winners of the last two River Challenges could only muster a 4th place finish this year.  The bright spot was when Jessica Dreesbeimdieke won the overall championship with her score of +2 over par, 70.  The Cats hope to rebound before they start district play next Wednesday Oct 9.

9/25  The varsity girls golf team played one of finest matches of the season against Visitation Academy and defeated them  169-203.  Several low scores were turned in on the challenging Whitmoor course.  Jessica Dreesbeimdieke medaled for the 9th time this season with a 2 under par 34!  McKenna Montgomery and Megan McDaniel added 44’s to collect the 2nd spot and Taylor French brought home the last score when she carded a 47.  This victory marks the 8th straight season that the Wildcats have won 10 matches.

9/23  The varsity girls won their 10th match yesterday by downing Barat Academy 144- 162.Jessica Dreesbeimdieke, Claire Kopsky, McKenna Montgomery and Taylor French collect medalist honors when they all tied with 32 in the scramble event.  Morgan Winkelmier, Lauren Griesedieck, Gracie Nye, and Megan McDaniel all contributed great scores for the home team.  The team will travel to Whitmoor on Wednesday to take on Visitation Academy.  Great job girls!

9/19  The varsity girls golf team won the Angel Classic Golf Tournament for the 3rd straight year.  The Cats had to hurdle over some very large schools and some very good teams to bring home the hardware.  The Cats shot one of their best team scores ever with a 325 to defeat the 2nd best team St. Joe by 3 strokes.  Jessica Dreesbeimdieke outscored everyone with her 2 under par score of “69” to capture the Individual honor!  Fr. Taylor French was second for the Wildcats when her score was posted on the board as an 81.  The third best Wildcat on the day was McKenna Montgomery who finished with a round of 82.  Claire Kopsky and Lauren Griesedieck each added to the scoring with rounds of 93.  Morgan Winkelmiere added the last score for the victories Cats!  This was a great win for the Wildcats and Wildcat nation!

 The JV girls golf team upped their record to 4-1,  defeating MICDS 160 – 168 on the par 27 layout in Kirkwood. Olivia Holt tied for meet medalist honors shooting a 38. Amanda Ahlbrand (39), Gracie Nye (40), and Sofia Granata (43) also had counting scores for the Cats. Great job ladies!

9/16 The Wildcats scored a big win over arch rival MICDS yesterday, 187-194.  It was nail biter that went down to the wire.  Jessica Dreesbiemdieke medaled again for the 6th time this season with her 4 over par 39!  McKenna Montgomery, Claire Kopsky, and Morgan Winkelmiere where the other Cats that scored for the team.  Great, great victory!!!

The Westminster girls JV golf team placed 6th out of 10 teams at the St. Joseph’s JV Tourney on Monday. Olivia Holt led the way for the Cats firing a 51 and placed 8th overall out of 56 golfers! Sofia Granata, Anna Hagan, and Amanda Ahlbrand had the other counting scores for the Cats.

9/12  The varsity girls golf team collected its 7th victory of the season yesterday by defeating Incarnate Word Academy 175-201.  Jessica Dreesbiemdieke carded the low score for the Cats with a 42.  McKenna Montgomery scored a 43.  Claire Kopsky and Taylor French each added a 45 and Morgan Winkelmeier brought home a 46.  It was a great effort by the Cats who hope to improve their record next Monday, September 16, as they take on the Rams of MICDS at the St. Louis Country Club!

9/10 The JV girls lost to Cor Jesu 150 – 161. Olivia Holt had the top score for the Cats with a 38 on the par 27 layout. Other girls who had counting scores were Gracie Nye, Sofia Granata, and Lily Fiala.

9/9   The varsity girls golf team won their sixth match last night over Cor Jesu 153-171.  Many great low scores were turned in by the Cats.  Jessica Dreesbeimdieke led the way again with her even par 30 and the medalist honor.  Also, McKenna Montgomery, Claire Kopsky, and Morgan Winkelmeier turned in scores of 41 to lead all scorers and Taylor French turned in a good round with her 43.  The Cats will host Incarnate Word on Thursday, September 12, at Winghaven.  Hash tag Cats now 6 and 1.

The JV girls golf team improved to 3-0 on the season by defeating Burroughs yesterday 185-200. Olivia Holt was the meet medalist shooting a 40 on the par 27 layout. Other girls who had counting scores for the Cats were Amanda Ahlbrand, Sofia Granata, and Anna Hagan. Nice job ladies!

9/5  The girls golf team ran its record to 5-1 with a win over Borgia, 171-209, at Franklin County Country Club.  Jessica Dreesbiemdieke collected her 4th medalist honor on the young season with her 3 over par 38.  Megan McDaniel placed 2nd with a 43, McKenna Montgomery placed 3rd with a 44 and Taylor French rounded out the scores with her 46.  The girls’ next match is Monday 9/9 against Cor Jesu.  Go Cats!!!

The girls JV golf team defeated Borgia 159 to 175 to up their record to 2-0. Girls who had counting scores for the Cats were Anna Hagan (meet medalist), Olivia Holt, Amanda Ahlbrand, and Sofia Granata. Great job girls!

9/4  The varsity girls golf team defeated Metro Conference foe Villa yesterday 9/4, 168-176.  The Cats had their best performance of the young season!  Megan McDaniel was the match medalist with her 4 over par 40!  Megan also carded the 2nd ever Eagle by a Wildcat!  McKenna Montgomery and Jessica Dreesbiemdieke placed right behind Megan with 5 over par 41’s.  Lauren Griesedieck also scored for the Cats with her 46!  Others doing well in the victory were Claire Kopsky, Morgan Winklemeier and Taylor French.  The cats record is now 3-1 and play Borgia today at Franklin County Country Club.  GO CATS!!!

The girls JV golfers came out swinging yesterday as they defeated Burroughs 159-165. Leading the way was meet medalist Gracie Nye with an eight over par 35. Other counting scores for the Cats were Amanda Ahlbrand with a 40, Olivia Holt with a 42, and Lily Fiala with a 42. Great job girls!

The girls’ varsity golf team defeated Notre Dame yesterday 9/3, 179-233.  Jessica Dreesbeimdieke was the medalist for the third straight match.  Her score of 40 was just four over par.  Last week she set a new Westminster record with her two under par 33.  McKenna Montgomery placed second with her 41.  Claire Kopsky and Taylor French each carded 49’s to round out the scoring.  The Cats play rival Villa tonight at Aberdeen.  Good luck girls!

The girls golf team opened their season and the Westminster Christian Academy fall season off with a great victory over perennial powerhouse Ursuline Academy, 173-188. Senior Jessica Dreesbeimdieke was the match medalist with a 40 on the par 36 course. Freshman Taylor French was a great addition to the team with her 42. Junior Megan McDaniel played steady with a 45, and senior captain Claire Kopsky and sophomore McKenna Montgomery each carded a score of 46. It was a great start to the season!  The Cats play JBS today, Thursday, August 29, after school at Norwood Hills Country Club. Great job Lady Cats!
