As we work together with families to create lifelong learners, Westminster Christian Academy expects that our students will continue reading throughout the summer months. In working towards this goal, over the summer all incoming 7th grade students will be required to read two books that they have not previously read. Students must choose books from the reading list or from the Westminster 100 list. It’s very important that students enjoy their book(s); therefore, we encourage them to take the time to find a book they love.
Book #1: Read any book (fiction or non-fiction) from the reading list. The review should be submitted no later than Friday, June 23.
Book #2: Read any book (fiction or non-fiction) from the reading list. The review should be submitted no later than Friday, July 28.
Extra book reviews: The review should be submitted no later than Friday, August 4.
After reading each book, students will submit an online book review using the online review form. This summer’s reading project is included in each student’s first quarter English grade, so please follow these instructions carefully and refer to the rubric below as your student completes the online review.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I’m so excited! When am I able to start my summer reading?
A: You are welcome to begin your summer reading TODAY! There is no start date. The only time constraints are that you submit your reviews no later than the due dates specified. Early work is accepted.
Q: How will I know if I submitted my review correctly?
A: There are two ways to know it was submitted: 1) After completing the review form, press “submit” at the bottom of the page. A box will appear stating that your response has been recorded. 2) In addition, you will receive an email with your submitted responses. After each deadline, if your review was not received, you will be notified by email.
Q: Is there a way for me to have a copy of my review? What do I do if I can’t finish the review in one sitting?
A: By providing your email address, Google will send you a copy of your completed form once it’s submitted. If you need to stop in the middle of completing the review form, here are two things you may do:
Q: How will my summer reading project affect my English grade?
A: The summer reading project will be equivalent to a quiz grade in English. See the grading rubric.
Q: What happens if I turn in an assignment late?
A: Late work will be penalized based on the length of time that it is overdue.
